Our Veterinarians

Dr. Denita Shtuka
DVM
Denita was a city kid until the age of 12, when she moved to her aunt and uncles farm near Melville Sask. While living there a local vet came by to perform a caesarean section on one of the dairy cows. As she stood and watched with amazement, her uncle turned to her and said “you could do that”. She didn’t think so at the time but eventually she realized that was the day the idea of her becoming a vet was born.

In 1987 she graduated from The Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon and then moved to Vancouver where she spent three years “getting her feet wet” by working at four different veterinary clinics. Strong connections to family and friends brought her back to the prairies. She worked part time at Victoria Veterinary Clinic and at Albert North Veterinary Clinic and in 1995 she took a full time position at Victoria Veterinary Clinic. In 2004 she and Dr. Brent Walter purchased the practice from Dr. Jim Inglis, who first opened the clinic doors in 1978. In 2007, she became the sole owner of the practice. Since then the practice has grown both in size and in team members.

Dr. Shtuka feels that she is very fortunate to be able to work with a great team of individuals committed to caring for pets. She looks forward to coming to work each day, helping clients and their pets with whatever concerns they may have.

At home she has a dog Pinto. Sometime in the next year they will welcome a cat.
Dr. Brent Walter
DVM
Dr. Walter was born and raised in Regina. He achieved a Biology degree at the University of Regina in 1994 and his DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1998. After graduating he moved to a small community in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island where he practiced until 2001. In July of 2001 he moved back to Regina and took a position with the Victoria Veterinary Clinic.

In his spare time Dr. Walter enjoys scuba diving, riding motorcycles, camping and spending time with his son Erik. He has a black lab named Hunter and his son is eager to welcome another dog to the family.
Dr Lisa Rymes
DVM
Born and raised in Regina, Dr. Rymes knew from an early age that she wanted to work with animals. While achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan she explored different career options, but her combined love of animals and science led her to a DVM degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

In her spare time, Dr. Rymes likes reading, outdoor activities and playing board games. She has two furry roommates, a 3 year old tuxedo cat named Algernon and a 9 year old black cat named Rupert, who are always a source of entertainment!
Dr. Katherine Patzwald
DVM
Dr. Patzwald grew up on a farm in South East Saskatchewan. She had her first taste of veterinary medicine through a work experience program in grade 10 and hasn’t looked back since. With the intentions of getting into vet school she started her university career in animal science at the University of Saskatchewan.

In 2011 she was accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. Having recently graduated she looks forward to working with and learning from her colleagues as well as helping her four legged patients. She has a strong interest in feline and preventative medicine.

Dr. Patzwald spends her spare time with family and frequently heads home to her family farm. She has 2 cats Beeps and Nugget who were originally foster cats but she could not resist adopting them!
Dr. Lindsay Murphy
DVM
Dr. Murphy was born and raised in Regina and obtained a Bachelor of Science at the University of Regina. She received her DVM at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She have always had a strong interest in medicine and science and was drawn to veterinary medicine because of the diversity of care she can offer dogs and cats. She is keen to provide education to clients regarding their pet’s needs. Dr. Murphy hopes to build lasting and trusting relationships with the clients of Victoria Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Murphy, her husband and two children love and care for: an energetic Golden Retriever named Gamble and their two cats Roscoe and one-eyed Kit.
Dr. Katelyn McIntyre
DVM
Dr. McIntyre grew up on an acreage in Langley, B.C. and was actively involved in the horseback riding community. As a second generation veterinarian, some of her earliest memories involve watching her father perform caesarean sections on bulldogs and helping to revive the puppies. At the age of 16, Dr. McIntyre began working for the “family business” as kennel attendant, receptionist and eventually her dad’s Saturday assistant. That experience gives her great appreciation and respect for ALL clinic staff members.

Dr. McIntyre moved to Saskatoon to finish her Bachelor of Science degree in physiology and ended up staying in Saskatchewan after falling in love with the province and her husband! She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and worked in a mixed animal practice for 2 years before joining the team at Victoria Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. McIntyre lives with her husband and 2 children on an acreage near Craven. Their current animal inventory includes: “Willis”, an American Bulldog, "Willa" a CCRezQ dog, “Angel” a senior Quarter Horse mare, "Alice" a miniature Appaloosa pony, 2 miniature donkeys, “Ricky” and “Peter” and a flock of chickens. In her (limited) spare time Dr. McIntyre enjoys gardening, quilting, golfing and running.
